Karen Waters Johnson
is an Atlanta-based artist expressing her visual testimony by way of abstract and figurative paintings.
Upon retirement in 2019 from a corporate design and marketing communications career she promptly returned to her authentic foundation with paint and canvases at the ready in her studio. With long anticipated images to interpret on canvas, she uses oil as her primary medium. In addition, her portfolio includes watercolor, pencil, archived life drawings, and graphic design.
Karen’s work has a range of influences that capture an emotional inflection within her pieces. No classification of the artist is necessary, just the experience.
Following graduation from University of Michigan in 1978; Karen’s extensive career footprint began in her hometown of Detroit, then on to Maryland, Virginia, and completed here in Georgia, where she lives just outside of Atlanta. She acknowledges her gratification and blessings that have led her back to her true calling as an artist.
Karen is a member of the Visual Arts Collective (VAC) of Henry County and Henry Arts Alliance. (2020).
